Four reasons to call Brighouse your next home

By WS Residential:    28 March 2023

Nestled in the east of Calderdale is Brighouse, a historic market town which offers the best of both rural living and thriving amenities.

With a population of just over 30,000, this town’s size doesn’t reflect the wealth of benefits it offers to those living there. If you’re looking for homes for sale in Brighouse, you’ll reap the rewards of everything from fantastic transport connections to artisan and independent amenities, and a plethora of things to do.

Find out more about why there’s more to Brighouse than meets the eye and how it could be the perfect place for you and your family to call home.

Excellent commuter links

With nearby road connections and frequent public transport services, getting from A to B couldn’t be easier from Brighouse.

The town is situated just off the major M62 motorway, allowing easy travel to the surrounding towns and cities of Leeds, Huddersfield and Bradford, as well as further afield to Manchester. Accessing neighbouring Halifax and Sowerby Bridge is also hassle-free via the A629.

For those who need the rail service, Brighouse’s local train station offers simple connections to the wider West Yorkshire region and beyond. Huddersfield and Leeds are only a 10-minute and 30-minute train ride away respectively, whilst services also run to Manchester Victoria.

The station also has services running through to London Kings Cross, with the journey taking 2 hours 30 minutes. However, these trains run less regularly than the local commuter connections.

A vibrant market town

This hidden gem in West Yorkshire has everything you need on your doorstep to make it your family’s happy place. The town is awash with boutique and household stores, everyday essentials and independent eateries, cafes and bars for locals to enjoy and explore.

Plus, with the River Calder running through the heart of the town, you’re never too far from discovering some gorgeous green space to take in some fresh air.

Brighouse also stays true to its heritage with its regular artisan markets in the warmer months, showcasing the very best of fresh produce and creative crafts the town has to offer. These markets are a must-visit for any foodies too, with vendors offering everything from Mongolian stir-frys to pie and peas!

The town is also blessed with a fantastic selection of restaurants, with something to suit every palate. For a taste of Greek and Turkish delicacies, a visit to Meze Restaurant is a must, whilst Jeremy’s @ The Boat House is a quirky venue with a wide range of tapas, burgers and pub classics.

Attractions in abundance on your doorstep

Living in Brighouse means Calderdale is your oyster when it comes to fun-filled things to do, whether you’re looking for family day out or escaping to the great outdoors .

For an action-packed afternoon, visit Rokt. This venue hosts indoor and outdoor climbing walls, escape rooms, a spin studio and space for yoga and Pilates, as well as a bar and restaurant, making it an easy place to lose track of time!

Culture will be high on the agenda with a trip to nearby Piece Hall. This Grade II listed structure was built back in 1779, and today hosts everything from art exhibits and concerts to independent markets and eateries.

A guaranteed ‘best day ever’ for your young ones is a trip to Eureka! The National Children’s Museum. Located on the aptly named Discovery Road in Halifax, your kids will love getting lost in this world of interactive exhibits and play areas, all while benefit from the educational learnings they’ll get all the way round.
